Time after time I run into Atheists claiming that they don’t believe in faith or they don’t need faith. Are they really thinking through this concept or are they simply spreading false ideologies around like cancer?
The Earth is located the right distance from the sun. Consider the temperature swings we encounter, roughly -30 degrees to +120 degrees. If the Earth were any further away from the sun, we would all freeze. Any closer and we would burn up. Even a fractional variance in the Earth’s position to the sun would make life on Earth impossible. The Earth remains this perfect distance from the sun while it rotates around the sun at a speed of nearly 67,000 mph. It is also rotating on its axis, allowing the entire surface of the Earth to be properly warmed and cooled every day.
So, you chose to do or not do and these choices are causal yet, you are not responsible for your choices…or something. He seems to be hinging this part of the argument upon the “conscious mind” as opposed, apparently, to the unconscious mind that makes no choices but simply dances to thermodynamics’ tune.
When reading product reviews for detox food pads, to find the best product, instead look for detailed reviews. Avoid those that say “I saw the toxins with my own eyes!” Instead, look for reviews were people discuss an improvement in their health, skin, or overall wellbeing. After all, that is the point of a detox. A detox should leave you feeling like a “new,” person with more energy.
I’m not sure any of these are going to be believable to you. But I’ll try to put that concern aside and be candid with you. Previously my questions were about God’s existence. After beginning a relationship with God, I then saw additional evidence that God is real. Such as…
She is a born-again Christian, which seems consistent with absolutism. I am an atheist. That doesn’t seem especially relativistic. I am as absolute in my conviction as she is in hers. Both of us base our beliefs on the absence of evidence. I see no covenantal apologetics. She has faith, which is believing with out evidence. Absence of evidence makes me doubt, it makes her believe.
To me, it’s like the foundation of a building. The facts/reasons support my faith. It’s like someone driving across the Golden Gate Bridge. They can feel whatever they’d like about the bridge. But it’s the construction/design/materials of the bridge itself that allows them to safely get from one end to the other. In the same way, the objective reality of God–the logical, historical, scientific reasons to believe in his existence, are important to me. There are people who don’t seem to need that. But I hate being fooled, and I have little regard for wishful thinking. The reasons for God’s existence mattered to me.
Another important form of story is testimonial. Invariably, you’ll have costumers who send you anecdotes of the success of your product in their particular application. It endorses your product and it comes from someone other than you. if someone tells you that they enjoyed your product or service ask them to put it in writing so you can use it to build trust with potential costumers. People usually say yes. Better yet, if there’s objective, scientific proof to support your product, make sure that is prominently displayed. You want objective third parties to do the selling for you. If you do it at first hand, people will be inclined not to believe you. When you bring in others, you enhance your believability and increase the chances of a new costumer buying your product.
